Nathan Barkan 8 Year old Golf Prodigy, The Next Tiger Woods
| Eagle, Idaho USA -- Nathan Barkan has mastered his craft and he's only 8 years old. Already Nathan Barkan of Eagle is looking to become the next Tiger Woods. He walks the walk and talks the talk, so much so you almost forgot he's just 8. A stickler for the rules, he takes this game seriously. "He not only plays sometimes 18 holes a day, but then will practice two to three hours a day," said Alan Barkan, Nathan's father. And it's not his family pushing him, but his own desire -- something his coach says makes him unique. "He wants it more than just about anybody else," said Jonathan Gibbs, the director of instruction at Banbury Golf Course. One of 50 qualifiers worldwide for the Calloway Junior World Golf Championships in San Diego, he's practicing even more than normal. "Four days in a row, it's tiring me out, it's tiring me out," said Nathan. But it's what he wants and he truly is one driven kid. His goal is to go to Stanford and make the PGA Tour, a route that may sound familiar to golf fanatics. "That's where Tiger Woods went and that's how he got good, so if I go to Stanford I think I will be good," said Nathan. Not only does he admire Tiger's talent, but also his mannerisms. "I like him the way he stays focused when the crowd goes wild, or he makes a putt," said Nathan. And it looks like Nathan's implementing Tiger's calm into his own game, sinking a long putt without even flinching.
