FAME CITY Houston TX Home Movie Footage 8/6/1989

Growing up in Houston during the late 80’s and early 90’s meant you spent some wonderful times at Fame City. You also probably know that ever since this indoor family fun center became “Funplex”, it’s never been the same. Fame City used to be a hip hang out for Houston’s youth. It had a bowling alley, a miniature golf course, the hottest arcade games, hourly dance performances on the center stage, a roller skating rink, a movie theatre, laser tag, coin operated games for the little ones, family dining, and Adventure Bay Water Park in the next lot over. I remembered this old home movie that my Dad shot back in 1989. Since there is hardly any historical documentation on youtube about Fame City, I thought I’d share with those of you who are curious about how the place looked and operated in it’s prime. It’s really disheartening to know that “Funplex”, as it stands today, is a dirty and decrepit building home to teenage drug dealers. I hope this video rekindles some great memories to those who were lucky enough to visit Fame City as a child. FAME CITY. NEVER FORGET!!!

Baby Sticks Hand In, Grabs Obama’s Mouth

President Barack Obama blended his roles as a father and commander-in-chief this Christmas, exchanging presents and singing carols with his family, then greeting US service members stationed at a Marine base in Hawaii. The president and his family woke up early Sunday to open gifts, the White House said, then had breakfast and sang Christmas carols at the multi million-dollar house they rent in Kailua Beach, near Honolulu. The president dressed casually in dark khaki pants and a short-sleeve blue shirt, and his wife and daughters donned sundresses for Christmas services on a bright, breezy day on the island of Oahu. After spending a few hours at their rental home, the president and Michelle Obama returned to the base to visit with several hundred service members and their families, as they have done in past years. ^top The Obamas posed for posed for photos, signed autographs and stopped to chat with the military families gathered in the dining hall, where roast beef, salad and apple pie were on the Christmas Day menu.
